Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks a Member Services Representative to build positive relationships with members, volunteers and staff, increasing membership and engagement at Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA - Encinitas. You will respond to inquiries, conduct member interviews, and guide people toward programs aligned with their goals.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, accurate information, and cash handling while promoting the YMCA’s mission.

Qualifications

• 6+ months of sales and relationship-building experience preferred.
• Passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission of YMCA.
• An enthusiastic personality with desire to serve members, volunteers, guests and staff.

Responsibilities

• Model the YMCA values in all position responsibilities, especially with members.
• Educate members that the YMCA is a non‑profit charitable organization.
• Promote membership and programs and serve as an advocate for the YMCA.
• Monitor access to facility by ensuring members check‑in on arrival.
• Answer all incoming phone calls courteously and route to appropriate staff.
• Engage in active listening to understand members' goals and assist in achieving them.
• Greet, interview, and tour future members using cause‑driven sales techniques.
• Process all membership sales, upgrades/downgrades, and renewals.
• Conduct member engagement and conversion efforts for inquiries and tours.
• Conduct member retention and debt collection communications.
• Process branch transactions and cash handling per policies.
• Follow YMCA policies and report safety concerns.
• Work as part of a team and build positive relationships.
