Job summary

DMC Primary Care in Derry, NH is seeking a personable Refill Specialist to join a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. This full-time, on-site role supports clinical staff by reviewing and processing medication refills across multiple channels, ensuring adherence to protocols and HIPAA guidelines.

Candidate should have at least 2 years’ experience in a physician’s office or pharmacy, and possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Training is available for certified roles.

Qualifications

• Certification as Pharmacy Technician or Medical Assistant/LNA preferred; training provided.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2 years’ experience in a physician's office, pharmacy, or customer service preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with emphasis on customer service.
• HIPAA confidentiality and professional conduct expected.

Responsibilities

• Review refill requests and ensure medication protocols are met.
• Manage refill requests from multiple sources: phone, E-prescribe, portal, fax, and mail.
• Apply clinical knowledge to process refills per guidelines.
• Calculate refill due dates prior to provider authorization.
• Authorize refills and transmit prescriptions to pharmacies.
• Update EMR with refill information.
• Ensure timely refills within designated timeframes.
