Job summary

Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH seeks an organized Referral Coordinator to respond to patient calls, greet visitors, and manage referral and scheduling workflows across providers. Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with 1 year experience in provider office.
• Knowledge of insurance benefit programs and medical terminology.
• Ability to effectively interact with providers, staff, patients and insurance plan representatives a must.
• Able to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Must have prior computer experience, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient calls providing general information and education.
• Greets patients arriving for appointments, provides appropriate questionnaire(s) and assists with forms and use of technology.
• Assesses needs of patients without appointments and processes requests for prescriptions, forms or appointments.
• Reviews schedules daily for accuracy and reschedules patients to ensure fully booked schedules.
• Completes follow up tasks per After Visit Summary, such as booking appointments or scheduling tests.
• Receives calls and messages, schedules or transfers as needed.
• Monitors and completes system messages and faxes to meet patient needs.
• Completes authorizations and pre-certifications for external and stat procedures.
• Reviews provider schedules and contacts patients requiring follow up or no-shows.
• Supports providers and staff in addressing patient questions/concerns.
• Monitors waiting room for distressed patients and uses service recovery as needed.
• Manages multiple in-baskets, routing messages and completing tasks for providers.
• Acts as liaison between primary care physicians and specialists outside DH.
• Monitors referral work queues and processes new referrals per procedures.
• Implements and monitors DH policies and participates in referral process improvements.
• Delivers mail within the department and performs routine tracers and system checks.
• Performs other duties as required.
