Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a clinical microbiology laboratory professional to perform routine and complex tests, delivering rapid and accurate results to support patient care. Required: a Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology; MT (ASCP) preferred; plus 1 year of clinical microbiology experience.

Must handle high workload, maintain quality control, and follow safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
• MT (ASCP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory tests in the clinical laboratory to provide physicians with rapid and accurate results.
• Assess specimen acceptability and maintain specimen integrity throughout testing.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and document maintenance procedures.
• Perform calibration and troubleshooting of instrumentation per procedures.
• Adhere to quality control policies to ensure reliable data and report unusual results to supervisors.
