Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/MLS to perform and interpret a wide range of tests in a clinical lab setting. The role requires an associates degree (MLT) or a bachelor’s in sciences, with CLIA high-complexity qualifications. ASCP certification is preferred.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with 40 hours weekly, day shift, in the Molecular Diagnostics cost center, and may include a signing bonus eligibility during the interview process.

Qualifications

• Associates degree from a clinical lab science program (MLT).
• Bachelor's Degree in sciences. Degree and course work in the sciences must meet the requirements for high complexity testing as defined CLIA Sec. 493.1487 to qualify for hiring.
• ASCP certification as an MLT /MT

Responsibilities

• Follows protocols to perform a wide range of tests in an assigned area; refers to senior staff for interpretation of complex results.
• Ensures test results meet the laboratory quality control program requirements.
• Interprets and correlates test results with patient history to explain results and determine appropriate actions.
• Ensures preventative maintenance for equipment in the assigned area and performs routine troubleshooting.
• Maintains accurate records of tests performed using computer-based systems.
