Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a skilled laboratory professional to perform routine and complex analyses on clinical specimens. The role includes instrument operation, quality control, and adherence to state regulations to ensure accurate results.

You will provide mentorship to ALT/MLT staff, consult with physicians and other healthcare providers, and participate in continued education. This position may involve specimen collection under established policies and time frames.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an ASCP eligible program
• ASCP Certification required within 1 year of hire for PA locations (MLS/MT/Categorical or Specialty)
• Clinical Laboratory Technologist certification required within 6 months of hire for NY locations (new graduates)

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens with attention to analytic accuracy
• Operates, calibrates, and maintains instrumentation; monitors quality control and test procedures
• Provides oversight and mentors ALT, MLT, phlebotomists, students, and new staff in laboratory testing
• Serves as a consultant to medical laboratory technicians and other providers; participates in continuing education
• May collect and process patient specimens according to policy within time frames
• Performs other duties as assigned or required
