Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a skilled medical laboratory professional to independently perform routine and highly complex analyses on clinical specimens across multiple laboratory sections.

The role emphasizes quality control, instrument maintenance, mentoring of ALT/MLT staff, and collaboration with clinicians to ensure accurate results and timely reporting. Compliance with HIPAA and privacy policies is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ASCP eligible program.
• ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire.
• Clinical Laboratory Technologist or equivalent certification where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures to provide quality clinical information.
• Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation and addresses QC issues.
• Provides oversight and mentors ALT, MLT, phlebotomists, students, and new staff.
• Consults with medical laboratory technicians and clinicians; participates in continuing education.
• May collect and process patient specimens within policy and timelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
