Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist to perform routine and highly complex laboratory analyses across multiple sections. The role includes instrument operation, quality control, and contributing to lab management and education.

You will mentor MT/MLT students and new hires, assist with daily lab operations, and ensure timely processing of specimens in line with policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; ASCP eligible program or HEW exam completion.
• MLS/MT or applicable ASCP certification within one year of hire.
• 3–5 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory analyses with rigorous criteria for accuracy, precision, and sensitivity.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation; troubleshoot QC issues and ensure quality clinical information.
• Mentor MT/MLT students and new hires; participate in continuing education for lab growth.
• May collect and process patient specimens per policy and time frames.
• Communicate needs to management for supplies and efficient operations; participate in supervisor duties as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
