Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and complex analyses on clinical specimens across sections of the laboratory.

Responsibilities include validating test methods, operating and maintaining instruments, mentoring staff, and consulting with clinicians to ensure high-quality results. Compliance with HIPAA and lab policies is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an ASCP eligible program.
• MLS, MT, Categorical or Specialty ASCP Certification within 1 year of hire (PA).
• Clinical Laboratory Technologist certification in NY within 6 months for new grads.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information.
• Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation and addresses QC issues.
• Provides oversight and mentors staff and students to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Serves as a consultant to clinicians and health care providers, and participates in ongoing education.
• May collect and process patient specimens according to policies and timeframes.
