Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a laboratory professional to independently perform routine and highly complex analyses on clinical specimens across multiple lab sections. You will verify analytic performance, operate and maintain instruments, and mentor staff in accordance with policy and state regulations.

The role emphasizes oversight, consultation with medical staff, ongoing education, and potential specimen processing within set time frames.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program.
• MLS/MT/ASCP Certification required within 1 year of hire (PA).
• Clinical Laboratory Technologist certification within 6 months for NY (if applicable).
• 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex procedures to provide quality clinical information.
• Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods.
• Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation.
• Provides oversight and mentors ALT, MLT, phlebotomists, students, and new staff.
• Serves as a consultant to staff and healthcare providers; participates in continued education.
• May collect and process patient specimens per policies and time frames.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
