Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a capable laboratory professional to independently perform routine and complex analyses on clinical specimens across laboratory sections. The role includes oversight, mentorship, and consultation with staff to ensure quality results.

Compliance with state regulations and abidance by HIPAA policies are required. Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program with PA certification within 1 year if located in PA; 1–2 years of clinical

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program required.
ASCP certification required within 1 year of hire for PA residents.
Preferred 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

Performs routine and complex laboratory analyses using established criteria to provide quality clinical information.
Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods.
Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation; recognizes QC issues and takes action to ensure quality.
Provides oversight and mentors ALT, MLT, phlebotomists, students, and new staff to ensure accuracy and quality.
Serves as a consultant to staff and other health care providers; participates in continuing education.
May collect and process patient specimens in accordance with policies and time frames.
Performs other duties as assigned.
