Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a laboratory professional to perform routine and complex analyses on clinical specimens across sections of the laboratory.

The role involves operating and maintaining instrumentation, ensuring accuracy of QC, and mentoring ALT/MLT staff, phlebotomists, and students. A strong emphasis on compliance with policies, regulations, and ongoing education is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program.
• If located in Pennsylvania: MLS, MT, Categorical or Specialty ASCP Certification, required within 1 year of hire.
• If located in New York: Clinical Laboratory Technologist required within 6 months of hire for new graduates.
• Preferred 1 to 2 year's clinical laboratory experience

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens.
• Operates, calibrates, checks, and maintains instrumentation and ensures QC accuracy.
• Oversees and mentors ALT, MLT, phlebotomists, students, and new staff.
• Consults with medical lab technicians and providers; participates in continuing education.
• May collect and process patient specimens within policy and time frames.
