Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. seeks a Medical Technologist I to perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood and body fluids under minimal supervision.

You will ensure accurate results by following quality control protocols, maintaining instruments, and supporting patient care through timely reporting. The role may also include teaching new staff, performing phlebotomy duties as needed, and assisting in data collection for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Passing score on Clinical Laboratory Technology Proficiency exam approved by HHS (HEW) required.
• 0–2 years of acute care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderate and high complexity laboratory tests accurately and efficiently with timely reporting of results.
• Adheres to quality control procedures and performs required checks and corrective actions.
• Conducts instrument checks and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and Laboratory Safety Plan.
• Communicates results and issues to peers, supervisors, and healthcare staff.
• Participates in proficiency testing and data collection for accreditation and regulatory compliance.
• Performs phlebotomy duties as needed to support patient care.
