Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Hazleton location to perform high, moderate, and waived laboratory testing across the department. You will operate advanced clinical laboratory instrumentation and follow SOPs to ensure accurate reporting.

The role emphasizes quality control, troubleshooting, and training new staff while maintaining compliance with CLIA requirements and safety standards in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing.
• Bachelor’s Degree Medical Technology or related science field from an accredited institution or must meet CLIA grandfathered medical technologist regulations.
• 1 year clinical laboratory internship Demonstrated technical skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific documents.
• Ability to read, understand, and speak basic English.
• Demonstrated ability to use/learn the computer system, word processing, e-mail, and applicable software programs.

Responsibilities

• Performs high, moderate, or waived laboratory testing in the assigned department.
• Utilizes advanced clinical laboratory instrumentation per SOPs.
• Confirms and reports results with independent judgment.
• Monitors results for reasonableness and critical values.
• Conducts and evaluates quality control per SOPs.
• Troubleshoots and reports QC issues to management.
• Performs departmental maintenance per SOPs.
• Provides orientation and training to new employees/students.
