Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Hazleton is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform high-complexity testing and operate advanced lab instruments. You will verify results, perform QA, and assist with training in a fast-paced hospital lab.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree in MLT or a CLIA-qualified diploma, with entry-level experience and strong analytical skills. Evening shift, full-time, on-site at LVHN-Hazleton.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree as a medical laboratory technician or Specialized Diploma meeting CLIA grandfathered MLT regulations.
• Less than 1 year of experience and a clinical laboratory internship.
• Demonstrated technical skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific documents.
• Ability to read, understand, and speak basic English.
• Demonstrated ability to use/learn computer systems, word processing, e-mail, and applicable software programs.
• Demonstrated dependability/flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the department, unit, and hospital.
• Ability to apply common mathematical skills.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

• Performs high/ moderate/ waived laboratory testing in the assigned department.
• Uses advanced laboratory instrumentation per SOPs.
• Confirms, verifies, and reports results with independent judgment.
• Monitors results for reasonableness and critical values.
• Conducts quality control per SOPs and reports issues.
• Troubleshoots and reports QC issues to management.
• Performs departmental preventative maintenance.
• Recognizes/makes corrections to instrument or procedural malfunctions.
• Provides orientation/training to new employees or students.
