Job summary

HNL Lab Medicine is seeking a qualified laboratory professional for Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hellertown. The role involves performing high, moderate, and waived tests with independence and accuracy under SOPs, and collaborating with physicians on interpretation of results.

Responsibilities include quality control, instrument troubleshooting, specimen handling, and ongoing participation in training and CSI activities in a fast-paced onsite lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in medical technology or related science field from an accredited institution; or, must meet CLIA grandfathered medical technologist regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs high, moderate, or waived laboratory testing as assigned with independence under SOPs.
• Recognizes and corrects instrument malfunctions and records troubleshooting activities.
• Confirms, verifies and reports test results independently; monitors results for reasonableness and critical values.
• Correlates and interprets data generated from testing and assists physicians in interpretation of results.
• Performs established quality control and continuous improvement activities; participates in CSI and continuing education.
• Prepares and/or collects specimens (blood, urine, feces or other fluids) for analysis; provides training to staff/students.
