Job summary

Concentra is seeking a Medical Support Specialist in Colorado to perform routine medical and testing procedures under the supervision of a clinician. You will also support front-office tasks, maintain supplies, and ensure a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities include DOT and non-DOT drug testing, vital signs, phlebotomy, rapid screenings, assisting clinicians, documenting accurately, and complying with HIPAA. The role requires attention to detail and teamwork in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant.
• Military medical specialist experience (must meet credentials in the state of employment).

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and ancillary testing such as vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testing.
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.).
• Assist providers during examination and treatment.
• Perform routine medical procedures and triage emergent patients.
• Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care.
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered.
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered by clinician in accordance with state regulations.
• Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and testing processes.
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms.
• Operate medical devices and equipment and maintain records.
• Notify supervisor if equipment is not functioning properly or supplies are needed.
• Assist with patient flow and communicate wait times.
• Handle front office duties: greet patients, check in/out, obtain authorization, and relay results.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintain neat, clean, and orderly facility appearance.
