Job summary

Concentra is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to perform routine medical procedures under clinician supervision and support in front/back office operations. You will prepare patients for exams, perform rapid screening tests, assist clinicians, and help manage patient flow while maintaining high-quality patient care and experience.

The role requires a medical assistant background or direct patient care experience, DOT testing capabilities, and excellent customer service with strong HIPAA

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience.
• State requirements and applicable regulations must be met for the employment state.

Responsibilities

• Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and ancillary testing
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
• Assist providers during examination and treatment
• Triage emergent patients and perform routine medical procedures as ordered
• Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered in accordance with state regulations
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and clean/stock exam rooms
• Maintain and operate medical devices with calibration and record keeping
• Notify supervisor if equipment or facility troubleshooting is needed
• Assist with patient flow and communicate wait times
• Handle front/back office duties, including check-in/out and documentation
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
• Maintain neat, clean facility appearance and participate in training programs
