Job summary

Concentra, Inc. is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to perform routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision and support in registration and referral management.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship highly preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience (must meet credentials)
• Job experience in medical assistance and related terminology is required or preferred
• Understanding of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including vital signs and any required testing
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
• Assist providers during examination and treatment
• Triage emergent patients and perform routine procedures as ordered
• Prepare and assist with procedure setup and injury care
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered
• Dispense medications and DME as allowed by state regulations
• Complete quality assurance on equipment and testing processes
• Maintain supplies and clean/stock exam rooms
• Operate medical devices with calibration and record keeping
• Notify supervisor if equipment or facility not operating properly
• Assist with patient flow and communicate wait times
• Conduct front office duties: check in/out, obtain authorizations, answer calls
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
• Maintain neat, clean facility appearance and participate in ongoing training
