Job summary

Concentra in the United States seeks a Medical Support Specialist to perform routine medical procedures under clinician supervision and support front/back office tasks. You will prepare patients for exams, assist with procedures, and ensure accurate documentation while delivering an excellent patient experience.

The role requires strong attention to detail, customer service, and compliance with HIPAA. Training and certifications in drug screening and related areas are expected as part of ongoing

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience (must meet credentials in the state of employment)

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations, including vital signs and ancillary testing
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)
• Assist providers during examination and treatment
• Perform routine medical procedures as ordered by clinician and triage emergent patients
• Prepare and assist clinician with procedure setup and injury care
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by clinician
• Dispense medications and DME as ordered by clinician
• Complete quality assurance activities on equipment and testing processes
• Maintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam rooms
• Maintain and operate medical devices and equipment with calibration and records
• Notify supervisor if equipment or facility not operating
• Assist with patient flow and communicate wait times
• Greet patients, check in/out, answer multi-line calls and distribute results
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
• Maintain neat, clean facility appearance
• Complete required training including clinical competency training
