Job summary

Concentra is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to perform routine medical procedures under clinician supervision and support in front and back office tasks. You will prepare patients, collect vitals and samples, and assist providers during exams in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires HIPAA awareness, confidentiality, and a dedication to patient experience. Prior medical assistant training or experience is preferred, with ongoing competency training and coverage for center operations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program with externship preferred or at least 1 year of direct patient care as a medical assistant or military medical experience
• At least six months or more of medical assistant experience
• Knowledge of medical procedures and terminology
• Working knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferred
• HIPAA guidelines and safety rules
• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
• Teamwork with center leadership and staff
• Obtain certifications including Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol, Hair and Oral Fluids
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and data entry

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
• Prepare patients for physical examinations including vitals and ancillary testing
• Perform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, glucose, etc.)
• Assist providers during examinations and treatments
• Triage emergent patients and perform routine medical procedures as ordered
• Prepare and assist clinician with setup and injury care
• Apply bandages, dressings and splints
• Dispense medications and DME per clinician orders
• Maintain supplies and clean/stock exam rooms
• Operate and calibrate medical devices with proper documentation
• Notify supervisor if equipment fails or supplies are needed
• Assist with patient flow and keep patients informed of wait times
• Perform front/back office duties and ensure accurate documentation
• Follow HIPAA and safety rules
• Attend staff meetings and training
• Maintain neat, clean facility appearance
• Participate in ongoing competency training
