Job summary

Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is seeking a patient access specialist to join our scheduling team. This on-site role ensures accurate appointment coordination, patient communication, and timely scheduling across departments.

You will work within our EHR system, verify insurance, obtain authorizations when needed, and deliver outstanding service in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. This position requires a high school diploma and at least two years of healthcare or call center

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in a medical setting or call center environment.
• Medical scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules patients for services accurately on the appropriate schedule.
• Communicates appointment details, locations, and any special needs to patients and staff.
• Enters patient demographics and insurance information into the EHR system.
• Verifies insurance and obtains necessary authorizations.
• Reschedules or cancels appointments as needed to maintain scheduling efficiency.
• Maintains a high level of customer service and professionalism.
