Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Medical Scheduler in Columbia, MD to support a busy healthcare practice. You will manage a high volume of patient communications and appointment scheduling, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include handling 60-100 daily calls, scheduling appointments, processing referrals, verifying insurance, and supporting billing inquiries while maintaining HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
• Previous call center or high-volume phone experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Proficient computer and data entry skills.
• HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Handle 60-100 inbound patient calls daily.
• Schedule and reschedule patient appointments.
• Process referrals and prescription refill requests.
• Verify patient registration and insurance information.
• Assist with billing-related inquiries and account collection processes.
• Answer incoming calls and direct requests to the appropriate provider or department.
• Support patient check-in and check-out activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient information within the EMR system.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, staff, and visitors.
• Assist other office personnel with administrative duties as needed.
