Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a hospital coder to review medical records, interpret treatment plans, and assign ICD-10 CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures. The role supports accurate billing by abstracting data and maintaining up-to-date coding guidelines.

You will collaborate with clinical teams, ensure timely documentation, and contribute to compliant coding practices within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School/GED is required.
• Completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year of Hospital and/or Physician Coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters data into systems.
• Manages unbilled coding reports to assist cash flow.
• Keeps current with ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines through training and reviews.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
