Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a skilled health information coder to review medical records, interpret diagnoses and procedures, and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes. You will abstract data for statistical requests and ensure timely entry into the coding system, supporting efficient cash flow by managing unbilled reports.

Preferred candidates hold RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P or CPC certifications with 1 year hospital coding experience, including major surgeries and E/Ms.

Qualifications

• Requires RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P or CPC/CPC-A certification preferred
• 1 year hospital coding experience
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms
• Strong data entry and computer skills

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD-10-CM/ CPT codes
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters data into the system
• Manages unbilled coding reports to support cash flow
• Keeps up-to-date with ICD-10-CM/CPT guideline changes via training and clinics
• Performs other duties as assigned
