Job Description

An oncology clinic is seeking a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to join their team at their Round Rock North location. The MLT is responsible for:

1. Performing high complexity testing
2. Routine urinalysis, hematology, and chemistry testing
3. Moving specimens from collection to processing, including spinning and preparing them for lab analysis
4. Handling specimens, performing tests, and preparing results
5. Communicating effectively, asking questions, and adapting to a fast-paced environment
6. Collecting specimens quickly and starting in-house testing so results are ready when providers see patients
7. Assisting with phlebotomy and collecting appropriate specimens, ensuring pre-authorization and completing consent forms (ABN) as needed
8. Assisting with special procedures (e.g., bone marrow biopsies)
9. Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting, and record keeping
10. Analyzing specimens in Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology
11. Maintaining and operating laboratory equipment, performing regular maintenance
12. Adhering to quality control policies, documenting QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance
13. Recording lot numbers of controls, calibrators, and reagents
14. Participating in proficiency testing annually

Must Haves

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Lab Technologist, Medical Lab Scientist, or similar role
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in medical technology, laboratory science, or related healthcare field
• AMT, ASCP, or equivalent certification

Plusses

• Hematology or Chemistry background preferred
• Phlebotomy experience preferred
