Job Description

Under general supervision and following established laboratory procedures, performs routine medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. May also perform phlebotomy. Maintains compliance, confidentiality, and promotes the organization’s mission and philosophy.

Essential Functions
  • Process specimens, perform tests, and report results.
  • Arrange for specimen pickup or delivery to reference or outside labs.
  • Maintain records of proficiency testing and quality control activities.
  • Follow quality control policies, document calibrations and maintenance.
  • Recognize factors affecting measurements, correct issues or consult personnel.
  • Identify critical test results, inform appropriate personnel, and document.
  • Communicate test results, normal ranges, and specimen requirements.
  • Demonstrate technical skills to students and new staff.
  • Ensure remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from standards.
  • Administer testing per policies, apply TQM guidelines, and adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and compliance standards.
  • Maintain regular attendance and work holiday shifts as required.
Other Duties
  • Perform phlebotomy if qualified.
  • Assist with assessment reviews and scheduling if applicable.
  • Perform high complexity testing under supervision if qualified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
For Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
  • Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or MLT with lab training completion.
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
  • Phlebotomy may be required.
  • Qualified as Testing Personnel under CLIA.
For Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related science and completion of an accredited clinical laboratory science or medical technology program with ≥1 year of experience, or ≥4 years of experience with a related bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be certification eligible (ASCP or AMT).
  • Phlebotomy may be required.
  • Qualified as Testing Personnel under CLIA.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.
