Qualifications

Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team! This position will support the Laboratory Department at our 2410 Round Rock Avenue #150 location in Round Rock, Texas. Typical work week is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with no weekends or major holidays.

This position can be hired as a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

MLT Position Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures, including moderate and high complexity tests.
  • Follow quality assurance and safety policies.
  • Perform specimen collection and support patient flow.
  • Adhere to US Oncology Compliance Program and ethical standards.
  • Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection as ordered.
  • Handle specimen processing, analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and perform calibration and maintenance.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and quality control activities.
  • Prepare blood smears, perform microscopic examinations, and process specimens for send-out testing.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping.
  • Maintain inventory and restock supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Perform CLIA-waived and moderate complexity testing.
Qualifications

Level 1: Associate's degree in medical technology or related field, current state license if required, AMT/ASCP certification preferred but not required, entry-level with no experience needed.

Level 2: Requires three years of experience.

Level Sr: Requires five years of experience.

Physical Demands

Full range of motion, manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 40 lbs, corrected vision, and normal hearing. Legible handwriting required.

Work Environment

Office environment with frequent interaction with staff and management. Travel may be required (~70% of the time).
