Job summary

The candidate will operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, contribute to proficiency testing, and assist with training of team members while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Processes specimens and performs high/moderate complexity testing per SOPs.
• Maintains regulatory compliance and quality control documentation.
• Reports accurate results and correlates with diagnosis and prior results as applicable.
• Operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as per SOPs.
• Participates in proficiency testing and ensures samples are treated as patient samples.

Responsibilities

• Specimen processing and accessioning: Evaluate specimens and test orders for acceptability.
• Specimen testing: Follow approved standard operating procedures.
• Result reporting: Extrapolate accurate results with correlation to diagnosis.
• Computer skills: Use HIS and LIS software in all job-related functions.
• Equipment operation: Run, maintain, and troubleshoot all equipment.
• Quality control: Document calibrations and maintenance per policy.
• Proficiency testing: Participate and ensure proper handling of samples.
• Inventory management: Rotate stock and check expiration dates.
• Training: Assist with training of team members and students.
• Safety: Follow department safety procedures.
