Job summary

Atlantic Health System in Morristown, NJ is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to process specimens and perform high/moderate complexity testing under supervision. You will troubleshoot, report accurate results and maintain quality control to support patient care.

Responsibilities include specimen processing and accessioning, testing per SOPs, result reporting, instrument maintenance, proficiency testing and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
• Experience with high/moderate complexity testing preferred.
• Knowledge of CLIA regulations and quality control practices.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing and Accessioning: Evaluate specimens and test orders for acceptability and accepts or rejects according to guidelines.
• Specimen Testing: Follow SOPs for testing procedures.
• Result Reporting: Correlate results with diagnosis and prior results as applicable.
• Computer Skills: Use HIS/LIS software in all job functions.
• Equipment Operation: Operate, maintain and troubleshoot equipment per SOPs.
• Quality Control: Document QC activities and calibrations; maintain records.
• Proficiency Testing: Participate in PT and treat samples like patient specimens.
• Inventory Management: Rotate stock and monitor expiration dates.
• Training: Assist with training of team members and students.
• Safety: Adhere to Atlantic Health and department safety procedures.
