Job summary

Atlantic Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our clinical laboratory team. Under supervision of a CLIA General Supervisor, you will process specimens, perform high/moderate complexity testing, report results, and support patient care and workflow efficiency.

You will ensure regulatory compliance, maintain quality control records, operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation, and collaborate with pathologists, nurses, and technologists to deliver timely, accurate test

Qualifications

MLS role under CLIA supervision.
Experience with specimen processing and accessioning.
Ability to follow SOPs and regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

Specimen Processing and Accessioning: Evaluates specimens and test orders for acceptability and accepts or rejects according to established guidelines.
Specimen Testing: Follows approved standard operating procedures.
Result Reporting: Correlates test results with diagnosis and previous results as applicable.
Computer Skills: Proficient in HIS and LIS software systems for all job-related functions.
Equipment Operation: Operates, maintains and troubleshoots technical equipment.
Quality Control: Maintains records of calibrations and maintenance, follows QC policies.
Proficiency Testing: Participates in proficiency testing and ensures samples treated like patient samples.
Inventory Management: Manages inventory by rotating stock and checking expiration dates.
Training: Assists with training of team members and students.
Safety: Follows Atlantic Health safety procedures.
