Job summary

The role requires adherence to CLIA-based quality control, regulatory standards, and proficiency with HIS and LIS software; you will operate equipment, maintain records, and participate in proficiency testing.

• Maintains instrument/calibration records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Processes specimens and performs high/moderate complexity testing under supervision.
• Troubleshoots issues and reports accurate results.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains quality control.
• Collaborates with teams to support patient care and workflow efficiency.
• Evaluates specimens and test orders for acceptability and accepts or rejects according to guidelines.
• Follows standard operating procedures for specimen testing.
• Correlates test results with diagnoses as applicable in reporting.
• Uses HIS and LIS software in all job-related functions.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
• Follows quality control policies and maintains calibration and maintenance records.
• Participates in proficiency testing and ensures samples are treated as patient samples.
• Manages inventory by rotating stock and checking expiration dates.
• Assists with training of team members and students.
• Maintains knowledge and practice of laboratory safety procedures.
