Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist under supervision of a CLIA General Supervisor. You will process specimens, perform high/moderate complexity testing, troubleshoot issues and report accurate results to support patient care and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

• Evaluates specimens and test orders for acceptability.
• Follows approved standard operating procedures for testing.
• Maintains quality control policies and records.
• Participates in proficiency testing as assigned.
• Operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
• Manages inventory by rotating stock and checking expirations.
• Assists with training of team members and students.
• Demonstrates safety knowledge and adherence to department procedures.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate specimens and test orders for acceptability and accept/reject per guidelines.
• Perform high/moderate complexity testing.
• Follow approved SOPs for testing.
• Correlate test results with diagnosis and prior results when applicable.
• Operate and troubleshoot technical equipment.
• Maintain instrument calibrations and maintenance records.
• Participate in proficiency testing and ensure proper sample handling.
• Manage inventory and monitor expiration dates.
• Assist with training of team members and students.
• Adhere to safety procedures and departmental safety policies.
