Job summary

Northside Hospital, Inc. in Atlanta seeks a Medical Technologist II to develop and monitor test systems and perform laboratory tests for neonate to geriatric patients. Requires Bachelor’s or Associate degrees with certification eligibility (ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS) and at least one year in a clinical lab. Color-acuity screening is required.

Preferred candidates possess strong written and oral communication skills and a commitment to quality care within a state-of-the-art lab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology and eligibility for a certification exam (ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS).
• Associates degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with certification as Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS (ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS).
• Graduate of a Military Program in Science with certification as Medical Technologist/MLS/CLS.
• Grandfathered MT with prior qualification and current certification (ASCP/NCA/AMT/AAB/HHS).
• One year of clinical laboratory experience; ability to perform procedures per standards; color-acuity screening test required.

• Develop and monitor test systems and perform/interprete laboratory tests for patient care across age groups.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology

Associate degree in laboratory science (chemical or biological) or medical laboratory technology

Military program graduate with certification as Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Grandfathered Medical Technologist with prior qualification and current certification

One year experience in a clinical laboratory

The Medical Technologist II develops and monitors test systems and performs and interprets laboratory tests for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and applicants must be eligible for an appropriate certification examination.
  • Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)
• Associates Degree in laboratory science (Chemical or Biological Science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

• Graduate of a Military Program in Science (health science, biology, chemical, physical, medical technology) and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist
