Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist II to develop and monitor test systems and perform and interpret laboratory tests for patient care across neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations in a high‑ caliber, accredited lab.

The ideal candidate will hold a qualifying degree and certification, with a 4‑10 schedule (Wed–Sat). The role emphasizes accuracy, color acuity, and strong communication in a fast-paced, team‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a chemical/biological/clinical lab field and eligible for certification.
• Certification from ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, or HHS (HEW) required.
• Associates degree with MT/MLS/CLS certification accepted.
• Military program graduate with MT/MLS/CLS certification accepted.
• Grandfathered MT with current MT/MLS/CLS certification accepted.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor test systems and perform/interpret laboratory tests.
• Support neonatal to geriatric patient care in a clinical lab setting.
• Adhere to proper standards and regulatory requirements; ensure accuracy.
• Submit to color-acuity screening tests as part of quality checks.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology

Associates Degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with certification

Military program graduate with MT/MLS/CLS certification

Grandfathered Medical Technologist with current MT/MLS/CLS certification

The Medical Technologist II develops and monitors test systems and performs and interprets laboratory tests for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Work Schedule: 4-10, working Wednesday-Saturday

REQUIRED

1. Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and applicants must be eligible for an appropriate certification examination.
   1. Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)

OR

1. Associates Degree in laboratory science (Chemical or Biological Science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
   1. Acceptable certifying agencies include: ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)

OR

1. Graduate of a Military Program in Science (health science, biology, chemical, physical, medical technology) and certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist
2. Acceptable certifying agencies include ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW)

OR

1. Grandfathered Medical Technologist by having previously qualified as a technologist on or before February 28, 1992 and current certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
2. Acceptable certifying agencies include ASCP, NCA, AMT, AAB, HHS (HEW

1. One (1) year experience in a clinical laboratory
2. Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
3. Must submit to a Color-Acuity screening Test

PREFERRED

Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
