Job summary

Indian Health Service is seeking a Medical Technician (Laboratory Support) to perform diverse clinical tests and support specimen collection for accurate patient results. The role emphasizes QA, calibration, and instrument maintenance within a federal facility in Idaho.

Candidates should have an applicable associate degree or equivalent experience and be prepared to meet CLIA and CAP standards as part of quality assurance.

Qualifications

• GS-04: Six months general experience and six months specialized experience or education options.
• GS-05: One year specialized experience performing CLIA-waived tests and specimen handling or a related bachelor’s degree.
• GS-06: One year specialized experience in standardized clinical lab tests and QA.
• GS-07: One year specialized experience in varied clinical lab tests and QC, or graduate education.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, serology, immunology, and blood banking.
• Evaluate test results and troubleshoot to ensure accuracy.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Collect and process patient specimens and track in lab systems.
• Validate and document results and support quality assurance activities.
