Job summary

Avera Aberdeen Family Physicians in Aberdeen, SD seeks qualified Medical Laboratory Scientists/Technologists to perform a range of clinical tests and support laboratory operations. This position requires MLS/MT certifications and completion of required degrees, with training within 1 year for AMT/ASCP credentials.

Applicants will work regular daytime hours with some rotating weekends/holidays, and will contribute to quality control, patient testing, and collaboration with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation and workflows.
• Perform basic to complex clinical laboratory testing with independent judgment.
• Communicate lab data to departments and providers in a timely manner.
• Correlate and interpret test results and take corrective action as needed.
• Obtain patient samples following proper collection guidelines.
• Organize workload to optimize turnaround times.
• Participate in orientation and training for new staff.
• Participate in special projects as determined by management.
