Job summary

Avera Sacred Heart Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to perform a variety of clinical tests and support lab operations. The role emphasizes accurate testing, quality control, and effective communication of results in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s level degree in medical laboratory science, MLS, or related field.
• Certification or eligibility for MLS/AMT/ASCP within 1 year is preferred.
• Interest in clinical laboratory testing and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of laboratory instrumentation and QC procedures.
• Perform routine to complex clinical laboratory tests with accuracy.
• Communicate results and irregular findings to staff promptly.
• Train new staff on equipment and procedures as applicable.
• Ensure specimen handling, storage, and pre-analytical requirements are met.
