Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) at St. Charles Hospital to perform routine tests on blood, tissues, and other specimens and provide physicians with quality results using clinical laboratory equipment.

The role requires a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field, MLS certification or eligibility, and completion of an externship preferred. We value accuracy, patient safety, and professional interaction with staff and patients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science through a CLIA-approved program (required).
• MLS certification or eligible by a nationally recognized agency (ASCP preferred).
• Externship program completed (preferred).
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Performs analytical tests on biological specimens in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
• Determines acceptability of specimens and recognizes abnormalities.
• Performs quality control for all testing and ensures results meet established ranges.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment and troubleshoots equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
