Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Medical Laboratory professional for its Clinical Lab in Indianapolis, IN. You will independently perform, validate, and interpret complex tests impacting patient treatment plans.

Role requires MT/MLS with ASCP-BOC and AAB/AMT credentials, Bachelor’s in medical technology, and a commitment to quality and safety in a fast-paced hospital laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• Licensure/certification required: ASCP-BOC MT/MLS and AAB/AMT credentials.
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology or related field per CLIA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate diagnostic insights by performing and interpreting complex lab tests.
• Maintain quality control and QA to ensure safety and compliance.
• Manage instrument performance and troubleshoot issues; stock essential supplies.
• Mentor and train MLTs, new staff, and clinical students.
• Oversee pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing processes.

• Location: Indianapolis, IN
• Facility: Ascension Medical Group
• Department: Clinical Lab
• Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, 8am-4:30pm, Rotating Fridays 12:30pm-9pm

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver accurate diagnostic insights by independently performing, validating, and interpreting complex laboratory tests that directly inform patient treatment plans.
• Guarantee uninterrupted clinical care by executing rigorous quality control and quality assurance standards that ensure absolute safety and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain continuous operational readiness by managing instrument performance, troubleshooting technical issues promptly, and keeping essential supplies stocked for seamless testing.
• Foster team excellence and development by training, mentoring, and supporting Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs), new team members, and clinical students.
• Drive complete laboratory accuracy across every phase of the patient care journey, managing pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing processes.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Medical Tech credentialed from the American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB).
• Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Preferred Credential(s):

• Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC).
• Medical Tech credentialed from the American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB).
• Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Education

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, human sciences or education qualifications as stated per CLIA requirements.
