Ascension invites applications for a Lab Cytology role at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville in Evansville, IN. The position supports embedding, microtomy, and specialized staining to generate precise tissue slides for accurate diagnoses.

Responsibilities include maintaining data integrity, logging metrics, and adhering to safety standards in a fast-paced clinical lab setting with day shift hours Monday–Friday.

Qualificações

• ASCP-BOC histology certification preferred.
• High School diploma with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulated job-specific experience required.
• ASCP Histotechnologist certification preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare diagnostic specimens including embedding, microtomy (sectioning) and staining to provide high-quality slides for pathologists.
• Perform routine and advanced special stains using laboratory equipment to identify disease markers.
• Log patient data, document testing metrics, and maintain instruments to ensure accurate records and reliable operations.
• Follow established safety protocols for reagents and chemicals to maintain a safe and compliant lab environment.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepare Precise Diagnostic Specimens: Perform expert embedding, microtomy (sectioning), and staining of biological tissue to provide high-quality slides that enable pathologists to deliver accurate, timely diagnoses.
• Master Specialized Staining Procedures: Execute routine and advanced special stains using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment to help uncover complex disease markers and guide personalized treatment plans.
• Maintain Quality and Data Integrity: Accurately log patient data, document testing metrics, and maintain laboratory instrumentation to guarantee seamless laboratory operations and patient records.
• Champion Laboratory Safety and Standards: Manage, handle, and dispose of reagents and chemicals strictly following established safety protocols to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Histological Tech credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
