Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Health Information Coder to perform thorough medical record review, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and support efficient coding workflows within the hospital system.

You will abstract data, ensure accurate documentation for billing, and stay current with coding guidelines while collaborating with clinical and coding staff to support timely reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Must have completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience or coding in mid-level facilities.
• Certifications in RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CPC-A are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters coded data into systems.
• Manages medical information and cash flow for unbilled coding reports.
• Keeps updated on ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines through training and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
