Job summary

AAPC seeks a skilled Medical Coder to review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for billing across Emergency, Inpatient, and Ancillary services.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of coding experience, RHIA/RHIT or CPC family certifications, and strong knowledge of HIPAA guidelines. Proficiency with EMR systems like EPIC, Cerner, Stockell InsightCS is a plus, and attention to detail is essential for accurate reimbursements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience coding using ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and CPT codes.
• RHIA or RHIT certification with 3+ years experience, or CPC/CPC-H/CIC/COS/CCS preferred.
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes.
• Review documentation to apply HCPCS and facility level Evaluation & Management codes for billing.
• Abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from health records.
