Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Senior Coder for outpatient coding, with remote work options for Alabama. You will review medical records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and abstract data into our systems to support timely billing.

Applicants should have 5 years of hospital coding, 1 year across all specialties, and certifications such as CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC or COC are preferred. HIPAA compliance and ongoing education are required.

Qualifications

• 5 years hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding across all specialties.
• Extensive Trauma/Teaching/Observation guidelines knowledge.
• Completed coursework in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• Certifications in CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC or COC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data and enter into the designated system.
• Support cash flow by managing unbilled coding reports.
• Stay current with ICD-10-CM/CPT updates and guidelines.
• Mentor teammates and provide subject-matter expertise.
