Job summary

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology courses.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding in mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC or CPC-A Apprentice credentials.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes (65%).
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into the system (15%).
• Manage unbilled coding report and cash flow (10%).
• Stay updated on ICD-10-CM/CPT guidelines through training and clinics (5%).
• Perform other duties as assigned (5%).
