Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a skilled medical coder to review records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and support accurate billing.

You will abstract data for statistical requests, keep systems updated with coding changes, and collaborate with clinicians and finance to improve cash flow.

Qualifications include RHIT/RHIA or CPC certifications, 1 year hospital coding experience, and strong data entry skills. HIPAA compliance emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology coding courses.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with coding systems.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• Certifications: RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CPC-A.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters into designated system.
• Ensures efficient management of medical information and cash flow related to unbilled coding.
• Keeps informed of ICD-10-CM/CPT updates by training and clinics and applies changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
