Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to review medical records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and abstract data for reporting. The role supports billing and cash flow by ensuring accurate coding and timely data entry, with adherence to HIPAA and privacy policies.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, coding coursework, and 1 year of hospital/physician coding experience. RHIT/RHIA or CPC credentials are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School/GED required.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology coding courses.
• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.

Responsabilités

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters information into the system.
• Manages unbilled coding reports and cash flow.
• Keeps current with ICD-10 CM/CPT guidelines through training and resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
