Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a skilled Medical Records Coder to assign accurate ICD-10 CM and CPT codes by reviewing clinical information and treatment plans. You will abstract essential data elements and ensure timely entry into the system to support statistical reporting and revenue workflow.

Ideal candidates have hospital coding experience, strong data-entry skills and familiarity with coding guidelines. Training on ICD updates and collaboration with care teams are part of the role.

Qualifications

• 1 year hospital/physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations or E/Ms.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and CPT coding guidelines.
• HIPAA compliance and information security awareness.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to assign ICD-10 CM/CPT codes.
• Abstract data and enter coded information into the designated system.
• Support cash flow by managing unbilled coding reports.
• Stay current with ICD-10-CM/CPT updates through training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

High School/GED

RHIT / RHIA / CCS-P / CPC / COC / CPC-A

Coding courses in anatomy, physiology & medical terminology
