Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Records Coder to perform thorough medical record reviews, abstract data, and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes. The role supports hospital coding accuracy and cash flow through precise documentation and timely coding updates.

Responsibilities include reviewing diagnoses and procedures, updating coding guidelines, and contributing to reporting and data quality. Strong attention to detail and familiarity with HIPAA are essential.

Qualificações

• High School/GED
• Completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
• 1 year of Hospital and/or Physician Coding
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms
• Medical Terminology
• Strong data entry skills
• An understanding of computer applications
• Ability to work with members of the health care team
• Certifications listed above (RHIT, RHIA, CCS-P, CPC, COC, CPC-A)

Responsabilidades

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10 CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstracts data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enters information into designated system.
• Ensures efficient management of medical information and cash flow related to unbilled coding reports.
• Keeps informed of ICD-10 CM/CPT guideline changes and implements updates in daily work.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
