Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a dedicated coder to perform detailed medical record reviews, abstract data elements, and assign ICD-10-CM/CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures. You will help manage cash flow by handling unbilled coding reports and stay current with coding guideline updates through training and resources.

The role requires hospital coding experience, strong data entry, and teamwork within a health system environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Successful completion of coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
• 1 year of hospital and/or physician coding experience.
• 1 year coding at mid-level facilities or clinics.
• 1 year coding major surgeries, observations and/or E/Ms.
• Medical terminology expertise.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Understanding of computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• RHIT/RHIA/CCS-P/CPC/COC/CPC-A certifications may apply.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD-10-CM/CPT codes.
• Abstracts data elements for statistical requests and enters data into systems.
• Manages unbilled coding report to support cash flow.
• Keeps updated with ICD-10-CM/CPT guidelines and applies changes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
